Blackberries, Already.

For my friends and family in America, Labor Day weekend signifies the unofficial end of summer. Here in England, it's the blackberry season that tells me summer is coming to a close. Yesterday the five of us went into the woods with our pails in hand for a family walk. We've made some beautiful memories this summer, but this will stand out as one of my favorite days of the season. We walked for two hours (occasionally stopping to pick wildflowers or rest), the boys hardly bickered (they even hugged a bit), the sun came out for a while and we ended up with an excellent haul. There was blackberry and apple crumble after dinner last night, but it was gobbled up so quickly I never got to take a picture. It was the well deserved fruit of their labor.
